Shotgun:
A shotgun is a smooth bore long gun primarily intended for firing multiple round projectiles (shot, birdshot, pellets, buck shot) and cylindrical slugs. Some shotgun barrels have rifling to give better accuracy with slugs or greater pattern spread to birdshot.
Shotguns are available with a wide variety of operating mechanisms, including breech loading, single-barreled, double-barreled, pump-action, bolt-action, lever-action, revolver, semi-automatic, and fully automatic. Combination guns (at least one rifled barrel and one smoothbore barrel) are also available.
