A modern evolution of the iconic Bushmaster Arm Pistol is ready for the 21st century.
Hermon, Maine – (ArmsVault) – Hydra Weaponry, Maine’s largest firearms employer, designers, and manufacturers of the truly modular MARCK-15 Hydra® Weapon System, is proud to announce that the BMP-23 pistol, a modernized evolution of the legendary Bushmaster Arm Pistol, is now shipping. Originally designed by firearms innovator Mack Gwinn Jr. in the early 1970s, this revolutionary firearm has been reimagined for today’s shooters with advanced materials and precision CNC manufacturing.
The BMP-23 is a 5.56mm pistol that retains the innovative design elements of its predecessor while incorporating modern enhancements. Featuring an 11.5” chrome-moly barrel and an AK-47-style gas piston operating system, the BMP-23 delivers reliability and performance in a compact, lightweight aluminum and steel construction weighing just 5.2 lbs. Built-in iron sights and a unique 40-degree swivel design allow for seamless right- or left-hand operation.

The original Bushmaster Arm Pistol was developed as a compact survival weapon for aircrews and Special Forces, borrowing key elements from both AR-15 and AK-47 designs. Now, decades later, the BMP-23 honors that legacy while providing modern reliability and ergonomic improvements. MSRP is $2,350.
