Steyr Officially Introduces the Zephyr II Rimfire Rifle to the U.S. Market

BESSEMER, Ala. (Jan. 23, 2018) — (ArmsVault.com) – Steyr Arms is kicking off the 2018 SHOT Show today with the launch of its new rimfire rifle, the Zephyr II. Taking many design and functional cues from the original Steyr Zephyr, which was produced from 1955 through 1971, the Zephyr II is certain to be a hit among shooters, both young and old.

The Zephyr II follows up the excellent build quality of its “big-bore sisters” and sets totally new standards in the hunting-style, bolt-action, rimfire rifle segment. The Zephyr II features a classic European walnut stock with a Bavarian cheek piece and fish-scale-pattern checkering on the grips and handguard, as well as the typical Steyr Mannlicher bolt handle and a tang safety.

Available in .17 HMR, .22 LR and .22 WMR, the Zephyr II has a cold-hammer-forged 19.7-inch barrel with an overall length of 39.2 inches. The rifle weighs 5.8 lbs., including a five-round detachable box magazine. The Zephyr II has a suggested retail price of $995 (add an additional $25 for 1/2×28 threaded barrel), and the first batch of rifles is currently shipping to Steyr dealers and distributors.

The Zephyr II is one of several new firearms—including the new Pro THB (Tactical Heavy Barrel) and new models in 6.5 Creedmoor—in the Steyr booth (#10246) at SHOT Show.
