SCI to Auction Rifle Number Four in Series of Five World Heritage Guns At the 46th Annual SCI Hunters’ Convention
(ArmsVault.com) – Custom gunmaker Ryan Breeding of Nampa, Idaho, has been selected to design and build number four in the series of five SCI World Heritage Rifle Series guns. The rifle will be auctioned during the 46th Annual SCI Hunters’ Convention, January 31–February 3, 2018, in Las Vegas. This one-of-a-kind rifle will represent Oceania (Australia, New Zealand and Tropical Pacific Ocean Islands), as the theme in the series.
The Breeding rifle is built on a double square bridge Magnum Mauser action by Granite Mountain Arms in Phoenix, Arizona. The gun is chambered in the venerable .375 H&H caliber, with the capability to take down trophies of the Australia and New Zealand region, including water buffalo, banteng and red stag, along with other large game throughout the world.
The rifle comes with open sights that are integral to the barrel, as well as a quick detachable 30mm Swarovski Z8 scope. The rifle is a true custom creation, with almost all of the parts specifically designed for the gun, featuring beautiful wood and metal finishes embellished by master engraver Lee Griffiths of Hyde Park, Utah. In a nod to the Oceania theme, the stock also features a buffalo horn fore-end tip.
Breeding works closely with the Tech Help New Product Development Team (NDP) at Boise State University to create 3D printed models of his designs before putting them into production. One unique feature of the new Heritage Rifle will be that all of the gun’s screw heads will be hidden, creating a sleek seamless look.
The rifle comes with its own custom-designed display cabinet by Julian & Sons. It will be an elegant, free-standing piece paneled on all sides with hand-selected premium black walnut and finished with hand-rubbed Danish oil.
“I’ve made a lot of custom guns in my 35-year career, but this gun is totally something I have never done before.” said Breeding. “I build every gun like I was doing it for myself, especially this one. My primary concern is functionality and reliability. The gun will be delivered to the convention finished, sighted-in and ready to perform.”
