SEVIGNY SETS RECORD WITH U.S. STEEL CHAMPIONSHIP PRODUCTION WIN
(McLean, VA – April 7, 2017) – (ArmsVault.com) – FN America, LLC is pleased to announce that FN Pro Shooter, Dave Sevigny, has won the Production Division at the U.S. Steel Championship with his FNS™-9 Longslide at a record-setting time of 88.84 seconds. The match, held March 29 – April 1, 2017, in Covington, Georgia, required a minimum of 195 rounds fired over eight stages, with 155 counted for scores.
The format of steel challenge requires the competitor to fire a string of five shots, striking steel, as quickly as possible, with one string allowing for a practice or throw-away. Shooters move through the first seven stages accepting their best four out of five strings, with the final stage scoring best three out of four strings.
“Steel challenge can be very unforgiving; the key to a solid performance is consistency,” said Sevigny, FN Pro Shooter. “Even though each stage has a throw-away, it’s important that your performance across all strings is consistent and you don’t learn to rely on that throw-away.”
Sevigny, a veteran Steel Championship competitor, finished his eight-stage Production run with more than five seconds to spare over the next closest competitor, earning his fifth consecutive iron-sight division championship and second in a row in Production Division at this match with his FNS-9 Longslide. In addition, Sevigny competed in three other divisions, including Carry Optics and Limited, earning podium finishes in all.
