Like most of you, I believe that firearms play a major role in protecting me and my loved ones from an infinite number of threats. That being said, firearms aren’t the only items that make sense to have in your defensive arsenal. Although gaining in popularity with civilians, body armor is a tool that probably does not yet receive the attention it deserves.
For a while I’ve wanted to incorporate body armor into my gear, but just haven’t gotten around to it. That is, until now. Allow me to introduce you to the Voodoo Tactical MOLLE Hayden Plate Carrier.
For those of you that are new to body armor, a plate carrier is the vest-like gear in which you insert the body armor plates. The plate carrier itself doesn’t actually provide ballistic protection.
The Voodoo Tactical MOLLE Hayden Plate Carrier is capable of holding 10″ x 12″ body armor plates (hard or soft) in the front and rear. It is covered in MOLLE webbing, which gives the user plenty of options for adding pouches and gear. It also comes with a removable hydration compatible pack which has an additional 2 large compartments.
The next step for me is setting up the plate carrier. Like an AR-15 rifle, this plate carrier can be highly customized with accessories. The real challenge is to keep it functional, and avoid falling into the over-accessorizing trap (AR-15 owners, you know what I’m talking about). As you can see in the above image, I have a few accessories from Voodoo Tactical to get me started.

Within the next few days I’ll follow up with another post so you can see how I set up the plate carrier. I’ve actually already received the body armor that I’ll be using, but I’ll discuss that in a future post.
Stay tuned for more…
