The Rock Island Armory TCM TAC Ultra FS Combo is chambered in 22TCM and comes standard with a 9mm conversion barrel. The pistol’s performance with the 22TCM round has been great, so I’ve been excited to see how it performs with the 9mm conversion. The ammo used for the initial 9mm test was Sig Sauer Elite Performance 9mm 115gr FMJ.
The following targets give you a look at the first 50 rounds of 9mm put through the pistol. All shots were fired from the standing position. The original plan was to use the CTK Precision P3 Compact Shooting Rest during some of the testing to minimize shooter error. However, rain put an end to the range day before I had a chance to use it. But as you can see from the targets, the Rock Island Armory 1911 performed very well with the Sig 9mm ammo, even with shooter error.
I generally don’t dwell much on the price of gear during reviews. But in this case I’m compelled to make an exception. The quality of this 1911, along with the fact that you have the flexibility of using either 22TCM or 9mm, makes the Rock Island Armory TCM TAC Ultra FS Combo a very appealing purchase. Stay tuned for more testing…
