I know this isn’t exactly shocking news, but finding 22 LR ammo for the Ruger 10/22 has been tough. During a recent trip to Academy Sports, I noticed that they had a few boxes of CCI Quiet-22 in stock. My guess was that this subsonic 22 LR probably wouldn’t cycle the semi-auto 10/22, but I thought I’d give it a try anyway.
Well, the not-so-surprising results are in… The Ruger 10/22 would not cycle with this ammo. Of course, this is in no way a fault of the rifle or the ammo. Despite my attempt to play matchmaker, this semi-auto rifle and subsonic ammo just aren’t meant to be together.
