AGI Announces Hands-On Gunsmithing Course for the Colt 1911

NEW American Gunsmithing Institute Instructor-led-training course, taught by Master Gunsmith Bob Dunlap, runs Sept. 21 – 25, 2015.

Napa, Calif. (September 2015) – (ArmsVault.com) – American Gunsmithing Institute (AGI), producers of the most authoritative Gunsmithing DVD courses, is pleased to offer gunsmiths and students a Design, Function and Repair: Colt 1911 class with Master Gunsmith Bob Dunlap. The course, to be held from Sept. 21 – 25, 2015, is open to current AGI Professional Gunsmithing students only. Students must have successfully completed the Handgun section of the course prior to registration.

This AGI instructor-led course consists of approximately 15 hours of lecture and 25 hours of hands-on experience and covers the design, function and repair of the Colt type 1911 in .45 ACP. Dunlap will teach all phases of repair, functionality and reliability of the Colt 1911, including trigger jobs. The course does not cover any “custom” work.

Each student will need to bring a suitable 1911, a hammer, a set of punches, screwdrivers, stones, lubricant, needle files and at least one mill or mill bastard file six inches long or longer, eye protection and a dial caliper.

AGI Senior Instructor and Master Gunsmith Robert “Bob” Dunlap is recognized nationally as the top instructor in his field. Before he retired, Bob often lectured at other gunsmithing schools and has been an expert witness in numerous firearms court cases. Dunlap also ran a fully staffed gunsmithing shop which has done warranty work for Colt, Smith & Wesson, Charter Arms, Hi-Standard, Remington, Browning, Winchester and numerous other well-known manufacturers. He’s been a state accredited college gunsmithing instructor for over 35 years. Dunlap has been personally responsible for the repair of over 250,000 guns.
