As part of our continued testing of the Smith & Wesson Shield, we are incorporating a few holsters into our reviews to give you a look at various carry options. This holster is the MiniTuck from CrossBreed Holsters.
I realize that many of you are probably already familiar with CrossBreed Holsters. After all, this is the company that pioneered the Hybrid (Kydex/Leather) holster. Spend a few minutes looking online for CrossBreed holster reviews and you’ll quickly see that they are known for producing high quality products. So from a quality standpoint, I have total confidence in this holster. Of course, if we encounter any issues, I’ll let you know.
The reason we chose this particular model is that my wife is going to be the primary carrier of the S&W Shield. She has never carried a handgun using the IWB (Inside-the-waistband) method, so I wanted to make sure her first experience was with a quality IWB holster. Although I seriously doubt that we will encounter any quality issues with the holster, the real concern is how she adapts to IWB carry. Over the next few months we’ll be reporting back to you about her IWB carry experience.
For those of you who might be considering the MiniTuck holster, it is available for a huge variety of smaller handguns. CrossBreed offers this holster in black cowhide (the model we selected), premium cowhide, and horshide. You can also have it configured for right-hand or left-hand draw.
The MiniTuck is adjustable for ride depth and cant by simply moving the clips to the desired position. The following image gives you a look at the six clip positions that are available on the outside edge of the holster.
