Wilson/Beretta 92G Brigadier Collaboration Highlights September GUNS Cover
(ArmsVault.com) – Combining the Beretta 92G’s dependability and custom touches by Wilson Combat, the “target class tactical” Wilson Beretta 92G Brigadier pistol merits a place as the September GUNS cover story. Field editor Mike Cumpston highlights the custom pistol’s good looks and range performance — which bodes well for those interested in self-defense and competing in IDPA matches.
“The association of Wilson and Beretta implies a guarantee of the highest possible quality and this 92G is the culmination of their partnership,” Cumpston observes. “The pistol is the best-looking variation of the Beretta 92 or any of its offshoots I’ve ever seen, and with its refined action and close-fitting match barrel, it delivers significantly better mechanical and user-available accuracy than the 92’s I’ve handled in the past.”
In “Treetop Tackdriver,” contributing editor Holt Bodinson participates in Gamo Outdoor USA’s 2nd annual “Squirrel Master Classic.” Bodinson takes the .22-caliber Gamo Whisper G2 airgun hunting “bushytails” in the thick of the Alabama woods to great effect.
“With its spacy-looking profile, the Whisper G2 incorporates the advanced design features Gamo has been nurturing for several years,” Bodinson writes. “One of the traditional downsides to the powerful spring-piston designs has always been the vibration, but by adding soft bumpers the G2 piston comes to a complete stop … it works. The G2 is very pleasant to shoot.”
Other features include a historical account by Will Dabbs, MD on “Hitler’s Zipper,” — the German MG42 general purpose machinegun that altered the course of warfare in WWII, an article by Mike “Duke” Venturino on rediscovering snubnosed revolvers, as well as a column by J.B. Wood on the Ruger LCR’s new chambering in 9mm.
