Action Target Announces new .50 BMG Steel Target
PROVO, Utah – Jan. 16, 2015 – Action Target announced this morning that it will be releasing a new military-grade steel target capable of handling rifle rounds up to .338 Lapua and .50 BMG from as close as 100 yards.
The new target, named the E-50 Silhouette, was designed according to U.S. Marine Corps specifications and exactly matches the military E-type silhouette standard dimensions. The target will be featured in Action Target’s booth at SHOT Show (booth #14568) and will be available for purchase through the company’s online store starting Friday, Jan. 16. Orders will begin shipping starting March 13.
“As the company’s first commercially available steel target capable of handling .50 BMG, the E-50 Silhouette sets the bar pretty high for both the military and civilian customers,” Action Target’s product manager Chris Hess said. “This is the toughest target we have ever made.”
The E-50 Silhouette is the first target of its kind to be made of 1/2” AR550 armor steel and features a patent pending stand design that keeps it grounded even when shot with a .50 BMG. The stand also allows for tool- and hardware-free attachment of the target head by sliding the stand through brackets on the back. This configuration also allows for a looser fit which helps the target absorb bullet impacts and provides a reverberating “clang” for instant audible feedback even when shooting from hundreds of yards away.
The E-50 Silhouette will be available through Action Target’s subsidiary Law Enforcement Targets at www.LETargets.com. Dealers of Action Target and Law Enforcement Targets products may also begin selling the E-50 Silhouette starting Feb. 1.
