FNH USA Match Recap: 2014 FNH USA 3-Gun Championship
(McLean, VA – October 6, 2014) The stages run, the scores counted, and a new top shooter named champion at the 2014 FNH USA 3-Gun Championship. Five days of competition at Peacemaker National Training Center in Glengary, WV, drew 345 shooters from across the country to compete in one of the most unique and challenging shooting events in the industry.
“The FNH USA 3-Gun Championship has consistently grown in attendance and has attracted some of the most talented shooters in the country since it’s inaugural launch three years ago,” noted Ken Pfau, Senior Vice President for Commercial and Law Enforcement Sales, attributing the astounding popularity of the FNH USA 3-Gun to the increasing support and interest in the shooting sports.
Those gifted shooters made swift work of the nine stages, whose designs were influenced by the country’s most popular 3-gun events. Geared to test a shooter’s agility, lightness of foot and mastery of all firearms platforms used in 3-gun competition, these stages were some of the most difficult at the match to-date.
“The decision to model our stages after the most popular matches like the CMMG Midwest 3-Gun or the Tarheel 3-Gun was the right one,” said 2014 FNH USA 3-Gun Championship Match Director Larry Houck. “Each shooter had to be master of the stage but also on their gear setup or face penalties.”
Competitors and spectators were in for an added bonus when they took their turn at the three FNH USA-sponsored side matches – long-range rifle, handgun or sporting clays, where each had an opportunity to put their precision shooting skills to the test. Shooters were engaging targets at 300 yards with the FN SPR™ A5M XP bolt-action rifle, dropping steel plates with the FNS™-40 Longslide 5-inch striker-fired pistol and shooting five-stand with the FN SC 1™ over/under competition shotgun.
