Pomona, NY – USA based, Magnum Research, Industries (MRI) is proud to announce their sponsorship of the 2014 NSSF World Championship Rimfire Challenge.
As a sponsor of the event, Magnum Research has donated three MLR22 rifles in support of the .22 rimfire rifle competitions. The first rifle to be donated is the new Magnum Research MLR22ATU which features the Ultra barrel; a high-tech, modular tensioned-type barrel. It utilizes a superior quality of steel for the barrel which is attached to a stainless steel breech and muzzle caps inside a thin-walled aluminum construction. The MLR22ATU measures 36-1/8” in length and weighs just 4 lbs. 8 oz. Barrel length is 18”. Features include 1 in 16 twist, Bentz chamber, ambidextrous thumbhole stock design with a comb designed for scope use, integral Weaver-type scope mount base on the receiver, extended magazine release, swivel studs and checkering on the palm swell grip. The length of pull is 13-5/8”. The barrel is black anodized aluminum. MSRP on the MLR22ATU is $544.00.
Also being donated is Magnum Research’s new MLR22ATUT. Similar to the MLR22ATU, the difference between the two rifles is that the MLR22ATUT can accommodate a suppressor and has muzzle threads of ½ x 28. It is supplied with a thread protector. The weight is the same, but the overall length is 36-5/8” and barrel length is 18-1/2”. Both rifles utilize the Ruger® 10/22® trigger group and 10/22® rotary magazines. MSRP on the MLR22ATUT is $571.00. Both barrels are also sold separately for upgrading 10/22® rifles.
The last donation is the popular MLR22WMH, the Win Mag version of the MLR22 rifle which has gained a following among dedicated Win Mag fans. This model features a patented 19” graphite barrel which is exclusive to Magnum Research. The barrel provides lighter weight, better heat dissipation than steel and is extremely strong. The MLR22WMH has a patented gas system and block under the barrel that taps a small amount of gas through an orifice hole in the barrel. Overall length is 35.5” and weighs just 71.2 oz. It also features an OverMolded™ Hogue® stock, rail for Weaver style rings on the receiver, and a 10/22® rotary magazine which will accommodate 9 rounds. MSRP on the MLR22WMH is $791.00.
Over the 3-day event, the Rimfire Challenge will include 14 stages and is open to competitors of every age group. Competitors will compete in both rimfire pistols and rifles. All skill levels are welcome to participate in the family-friendly event.
The NSSF Rimfire Challenge is an exclusive program of the National Shooting Sports Foundation. The purpose of this fun event is primarily to introduce new shooting enthusiasts to competition target shooting. This year’s event is being held at the Old Fort Gun Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas on October 3-5, 2014.
