200 Disabled Vets & Families Served at Rockcastle Shooting Center
Park City, KY – September 13, 2014 Honored American Veterans Afield (HAVA) announces the very successful 1st Annual HAVA/Rockcastle Family Day held on Saturday September 13, 2014 at the Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, KY. Conducted by HAVA and 50 volunteers, and supported by over three dozen shooting industry sponsor companies, the event hosted 200 disabled veterans and injured active military and their families to a day of shooting, good food, gifts, raffle prizes, air soft, bounce houses, entertainment and family fun for the benefit of these American heroes who have answered the call to service and paid a heavy price. All of the wounded military attendees received a back pack of valuable outdoor products, many won guns, archery or accessory products and every attending child went home a winner from the kid’s raffle.
“For the twelfth time since our inception, HAVA has successfully staged a large Family Day to benefit hundreds of combat injured who are trying to rebuild their confidence that the best of life is still before them, “ said HAVA Chairman Tom Taylor. “We also do smaller shooting and hunting events in 18 states, all of which is possible only because we represent the shooting industry and its patriotic companies who donate funds, products, volunteers and venues to our cause. HAVA is proud of our support for these American heroes whom we serve, and is privileged to represent an industry with such a big heart. See the comments below that appeared on our Facebook page Sunday morning from the Fort Campbell Warrior Transition Battalion Commander:”
“Thank you HAVA for such a phenomenal event yesterday! My husband and I were left absolutely stunned at the sheer volume of humble volunteers, gracious donors and patient, knowledgeable lane SME’s. The food, music, raffle, children’s events, transportation, and accommodations just added to the level of organization, consideration and professionalism your team demonstrated. My husband reunited with soldiers from Bastogne’s ’10-‘11 deployment to Kunar that he has not seen in years. I watched as the Alpha Company, Fort Campbell Warrior Transitions Battalion soldiers and cadre laughed together and led teams through the lanes. I am humbled and moved to immeasurable depths of gratitude. Thank you HAVA. Your actions are in keeping with your mission and your execution was perfect.”

Nick Noble, CEO of Rockcastle added, “This was our first HAVA event and it was a pleasure to help the HAVA volunteers do what they do so well – bring smiles to the faces of these military families, offer gifts as a token of the country’s esteem, and give them a memorable day to help them rebuild their lives as civilians. We hold dozens of competitive events each year, but to welcome an event that was just for these families was special.”
