ACUI DONATES OVER HALF A MILLION DOLLARS TO MIDWAYUSA FOUNDATION SHOOTING TEAMS
Columbia, MO – Collegiate shooting teams that competed in this year’s Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Clay Target Championships will see additional funds in their MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account. The donation of $635,500 was split among the 75 teams that competed in San Antonio, March 26-30, and divided based on each team’s participation and overall performance.
Michelle Smith, ACUI Director of Meetings said, “The work that we do with the clay targets program at ACUI has been enriched by the generosity of the MidwayUSA Foundation and the Potterfields. The coaches, teams, and most importantly the students are able to compete on a different level because of this support, not only the financial support but the connections they allow us to make within the industry.” The ACUI Clay Target Championship hosted 633 athletes from across the nation and saw an increase of 23 teams, in this year’s shotgun competitions.
“ACUI’s generous contribution plays a key role in our Foundation’s ongoing ability to assist shooting teams. The growth of their national championship event is a true testament to the success of the shooting sports industry,” stated Dick Leeper; MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director.
The MidwayUSA Foundation, founded by Larry and Brenda Potterfield; owners of MidwayUSA,works with shooting teams, conservation groups and the shooting industry to raise funds in support of high school and collegiate shooting programs. Teams with an endowment account are able to draw a grant each year to use for team expenses. Each donation, such as the money received from ACUI, brings teams involved in the Team Endowment Account Program another step closer to achieving sustainable support.
