Equipped with Benelli M2s customized by Taran Tactical and Hays Custom Guns, Butler and Betsworth finished in a near dead-heat, separated by less than half of a point at the end of competition. Teammate Dingler, who finished third in the Tactical Division, also turned in the fifth-highest score overall.

“Benelli had a strong presence at the match and having Taran, Jacob and Lance fishing first, second and third, respectively, was the icing on the cake,” said Team Benelli Captain Dianna Muller, who finished as the top female shooter in the Open Division. “The race for first place was a photo finish, only a half of a point separated Taran and Jacob at the wire.”

Hornady’s Zombies in the Heartland continues to be one of the sport’s most popular events, drawing hundreds of professional and amateur competitors from across the nation. Shooters compete in 10 intricate and entertaining stages of fire which simulate hypothetical shooting scenarios that might be encountered in the event of a zombie pandemic.

“The 2016 Hornady Zombies in the Heartland match demanded accuracy and 100 percent reliability from our shotguns to finish at the top of the heap. There is a reason the Top 3 finishers in the tactical division all shoot for Team Benelli,” Betsworth said. “All of our shotguns ran fast and flawlessly over the weekend, allowing us to claim the top three scores.”

Multi-gun and tactical shotgun competitions routinely push firearms to their limits and demand the highest levels of reliability and rock-solid functional design out of their shotguns. For this reason, Benelli continues its legacy of innovation with its new Performance Shop M2 3-Gun Edition, which features a redesigned loading port for greater efficiency when quad loading, an XS express rear sight for slug accuracy and a port caddy for a spare shell. Benelli’s M2 has long been the shotgun of choice for serious 3-Gun competitors, providing the ideal combination of performance and features to crease the ultimate tactical competition gun.
