The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Releases the Fall Edition of The Tactical Edge

The NTOA has also made several articles available online to nonmembers, including “First Steps in K9/SWAT Integration” by Brad Smith. The article explores how to integrate a patrol dog into a SWAT environment through “tactical obedience.” Phil Hansen, in “Leading through Career Adversity,” discusses how in law enforcement, officers are accustomed to conflict with criminals, but are often unprepared mentally for some of the conflicts and career setbacks that are encountered within their organizations. In her piece “A Triad Approach to Enhancing Career Longevity,” Kris Mienert discusses how the aging law enforcement population can improve their longevity by making simple modifications to their daily lives.

Other items of interest are the Director’s Message by Mark Lomax, an interview with Mike Foreman of Point Blank Enterprises, and a book review from Tom Lynch on “A Law Enforcement and Security Officers’ Guide to Responding to Bomb Threats,” by Jim Smith.
